Sunset Surf

8 July 2014

The elements I most miss about living in Australia are the beach, surf and salt air. Needless to say, I’m a hopeless surfer but love the beach and waves on a Winters day and when the water is 19c and warmer than the sea breeze, its definitely better in, than out. The deserted beaches at sunset feel like a lifetime away from downtown New York. I grew up on the island of Tasmania and spent the most part of 13 years at Bronte beach, or by Sydney harbour. Water is a constant in my life and inspires our designs every day. The surf also gave me an opportunity to road test our new archway collection cuff, launching in August online. I love it. Lead the Way – About our Archway Hardware

30 May 2014

Inspired by retro beach side surrounds and city to surf escapes, our archway has become a synonomous feature across the Rachael Ruddick collection. Handcrafted in New York city, we worked together with a renowned jeweler to create the curve, using turned 3 mm brass tube. The result is subtle but impactful. The archway frames the Soho collection and our leather universe from a pop colour through to a deep texture. ...Read More Tweet

Supernova : Retro Poolside Inspired

22 April 2014

Shooting a Spring Summer campaign on a NY ( very heavy ) snow day can, quite simply, be called, unique. Not quite inspiring, but we can only imagine the Summery glow that a warm day should conjure. We headed to Brooklyn for our Supernova campaign shoot with our team and shot in a residential warehouse. The collection, inspired by the casual poolside cool of Jane Birkin in La Piscine, our design team introduced a new Window Pane monochrome print and a retro archway hardware piece to the new Soho collection, which have become key influences in the Rachael Ruddick collections since. Hardware includes nautical knots, rope and hooks with direct references to the brands’ waterside origins. our team: Photographer : Soraya Zaman Hair and Make up: Sophie Roberts Model : Rachel Thomas, The Society Management   ...Read More Tweet

Spotlight On : Effortless style by Jane Birkin

22 April 2014

The effortless, feminine and bohemian style that made Jane Birkin an eternal style icon is still influencing us today. The looks she sported poolside in Jacques Deray’s 1969 classic, La Piscine, influenced the clean, minimal yet feminine lines of the bags and accessories in the RR Supernova collection for Spring/Summer. Birkin’s look, casual yet utterly chic, demonstrated the power in easy, simple clothing: the white t-shirt, the perfectly worn-in jeans, the simple slip. Easy chic is exactly what we want to channel as we eagerly await the warmer months to come. Images: 1. Via bosstonstyle.wordpress.com 2.  Via barnabyjack.blogspot.com 3.  Via instyle.com 4. NOUGHTS AND CROSSES

16 April 2014

The must own bag this season is definitely the Cross body Evening bag, worn from work to night in sizes from minaudiere through to sizable day bags and the most coveted are trimmed in gold frames, embellished leather, clasps and chain. We suggest you select based on strap length and adaptability – quite simply, its key to be able to wear the same bag as a cross body as well as a more formal over the shoulder bag for the ultimate lady look. We love chains and rivets, as seen on our Soho cross Body Evening bag, as these provide the perfect amount of dash to an outfit. Here’s our edit.
